Course Description
Join our Scratch Beginner online coding courses for kids. The Beginner course consists of four levels (10 lessons per level) and 25 projects. The main goal of the course is to ensure students understand the fundamentals of coding. Students create simple video games such as Pong, Breakout, Slither.io, Fruit Ninja and develop simple animations and cartoons. Using block-based coding in Scratch developed by MIT Media Lab students learn the fundamentals of computer science concepts and coding terminology such as loops, conditionals and variables. Students are closely guided through the creation of their program and are encouraged to work independently. Students use an online programming environment, with endless access to online study materials, allowing them to advance their coding skills outside their virtual classroom.
Course Outcomes
By the end of the Beginner online coding course, students should have a solid understanding of the following coding concepts: loops, conditionals and variables, and be able to code simple software projects by themselves. All students will undergo a formal assessment and parents will receive individual reports outlining the achievements and progress of their child.
Online coding classes run every week across the school term period at a scheduled time where students join a LIVE interactive session. In order to join Fun Kids Learning Center online coding class you will need a computer / laptop with a stable Internet connection. Upon your registration, you will receive a User Guide with step-by-step instructions on how to join and prepare your child for the session. We ask that you help your child, especially Beginners students, to join their first online coding class and get ready for their session.
Each online class is a live and interactive video conferencing session. Your child will be able to communicate with Fun Kids Learning Center instructor, ask questions and receive ongoing support. Our instructors will go slowly through the content, ensuring each student is following along. Our teachers will also be able to access your child’s code remotely at any point of time during the session to fix coding bugs if need be. Students use an online programming environment, with endless access to online study materials, allowing them to advance their coding skills outside their virtual classroom.
Structured and engaging, one-hour live and interactive coding sessions every week during school terms. Fun Kids Learning Center Certified instructors, who are either IT professionals or Computer Science students. Comprehensive curriculum in Scratch, Java, Python, Unity3D and C# to suit students of almost all ages and levels. Project-based approach that encourages students to work independently outside their virtual classroom. Constant access to in-class projects, recordings & tutorials.
